Sandcastles

Last Thursday we went into the sandpit and had fun building sandcastles. We then wrote stories about what we did. Here are some pictures and stories.

My sandcastle had a pattern on top and it looked cool and when we busted it it was funny.

Space invader art

Our focus this term for art is collage. We are starting this off by looking at mosaics. Mrs Larsen showed me some art done by a street artist Space Invader. He makes art work using squares (pixels) and places them in different places all around the word. He bases his designs on the game space invader. Below is a youtube clip that gave us inspiration for our space invaders. Enjoy!

Dinosaur Measuring

As part of maths this term we are learning about measurement. Miss Nation gave us a dinosaur footprint and we had to find things in the class and outside that were the same size. It wasn't very easy to find things - check out what we found. Also don't we all look good in our school uniforms!

In maths we have een practicing our skip counting - this is the song we use to help us

Boo Boo stories

We have been working very hard on our writing this term. We have been working on making our stories more interesting. For motivation we talked about our boo boo's and then wrote stories about them  and made pictures on tux paint- enjoy!

I got burnt at my dad house when we were doing fireworks  and it hurt. I said ow! Ow!  Ow! My brother got burnt on his bottom. My dad put me behind his back so I couldn’t  get burnt again.

When I was on my scooter I stubbed my toe and it hurt my toe. I went to the office and I had to get a plaster.

Dream Ice creams

As our class treat for filling up our marble jar by - lining up quietly, sitting quietly in assemblies, walking around the school quietly and lots of other things we got to make our dream ice creams - they look delicious

Swimming Demonstration

We had our swimming demonstration on Thursday. We showed parents what we had been working on in swimming  - floating, kicking, diving under and for some of us putting our heads under the water. Thanks to the parents that came and enjoy the pictures.

Cicadas

We have been busy finding cicada shells around school so Miss Nation decided we should learn more about them. Check out this video clip on cicadas.

Fun at the gym

We had our first sessions at the gym on Tuesday. We learnt how to do motorbike landings. Then we did different rotations. Our favourite one was the jumping into the pit.

Glass Monsters

 A few weeks ago we entered into a competition for the Wanganui Glass Festival to design a monster. If they liked our design there was the possibiltiy that our pictures would be made into glass. Sports Spirit Day

Last Friday we had a  sports spirit day at school. We came dressed as basketball players, race car drivers, rugby players, soccer players, motorbike riders, supporters and even a ninja! We did some poses for our sport. Check them out below.

Monsters

We have been doing design for Art this term. First we had to think about the shape, colour and how many eyes, ears, mouths out monster might have. Next we created a couple of different monsters in our art book. Then we chose our favourite design to do a good copy. When we had finished we wrote about our monster and what it liked to do. Here are a couple of monsters and stories.

My monster is called Toll. He is a big grey monster and he has six tongues. Toll likes to roar and scare people and jump and tickle them. By Daziel
