Verb Wordles

We have been learning about making our writing more interesting. We came up with a list of verbs we could use in our writing and then made wordles using our favourite ones.

Inquiry - Stars

Our inquiry for this term is called Twinkle, twinkle little star how I wonder what you are? Here is a youtube clip we watched to help us learn what a star is.

Computers

We are really excited in Room 9 as we now have one to one computers. We are busy at the moment learning how to take care of them. Yesterday Miss Nation showed us how to go to our google drive and open google docs. We are also creating our own blogs to show our learning. Thanks Mrs Larsen and Ms O'Connor!

Pastel Art

We have been working with pastel for art. We looked at art by Jasper Johns and used one of his ideas to make artwork with our names. We started by folding a piece of white paper to get 16 rectangles. Next we used the letters of our name to fill in each rectangle. After that we used pastels to create big chunky letters. Lastly we dyed each square a different colour. Here are a couple examples of our artwork.

ANZAC Day

We have been talking about ANZAC day in class. We learnt that New Zealand and Australia went to war and fought together in Turkey at Gallipoli.  We also learnt that poppies are used to remember those that died in the war. We have made our own poppies in remembrance.

Junior Triathlon

We had lots of fun doing our triathlon last term and hope we get to do another one next year. We used the go-pro's to record what it was like to do the triathlon and Miss Nation made it into a movie. We hope you enjoy it.

Making Jelly

Our letter of the week as been J. We made jelly and then wrote instructions on how to make it. here are some pictures and stories.

Put the packet of jelly in the bowl and put the hot water in the bowl and mix it. Put it in the fridge and wait until it is time to have it.  By Bailey

Making 5

We have been working hard in maths learning how to make 5.

House Spirit Day

On Friday we had a Spirit Day were we had to come dressed in our house colours. In the afternoon we went into our Houses and did some activities. Each house is coming up with their own flag and song so we can't wait to see what they all are. We also got house points for wearing our house colour - which house to you think won in our class - Totara = green, Puriri = red, Kauri = blue or Kowhai = yellow.

Our Wordles

Miss Nation helped us make wordles on the computer with all the things that we like - colours/animals/food/drink to name a few. We also got to choose the way we wanted the words, the colour and the font. Check them out and let us know what you think.

Building Tables

We have new building tables at school. We also have new tools to go with. Mr Dobbin came in on Monday and showed us the tools and we got to practice sawing and hammering in nails. We are going to be working in small groups with Mr Dobbin to make our own spinning tops.

Hockey

We had a fantastic time at hockey. We learnt lots of new skills like dribbling, passing, stealing the ball of others. We also learnt how to hold the stick correctly and how to be safe with the hockey stick.
